Dr. Sidney Sudberg

President & CSO

Sidney Sudberg L. Ac. D.C. is a natural products scientist with emphasis on the discipline of pharmacognosy, the study of medicinal natural products, programming of pattern recognition software for visual data analysis as applied to High Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography for botanical identity as well as statistical analysis of both quantitative & qualitative data.

Education includes undergraduate studies in organic chemistry at Lehman College of the City College of New York, graduate studies in Chemistry at Stony Brook University and New York University, classical Chinese acupuncture the College of Traditional Acupuncture, UK, and Chiropractic medicine at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. After many years as a clinician, Sidney combined his clinical knowledge and experience with his chemistry background to found Alkemist Labs, an independent contract analytical testing and research laboratory highly respected for its botanical testing expertise.

As Sidney has published several scientific papers on natural products and many articles on lab best practices to educate the herbal products industry. He serves on American Herbal Products Association committees, including the Analytical Laboratories and Standards committees, is a technical advisor for the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia and serves on various committees of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists, International where he is Chair of the Committee on Statistics and a member of the Executive Committee of the Technical Division on Reference Materials (TDRM).

Élan Sudberg

CEO & Microscopist

Élan M. Sudberg is CEO of Alkemist Labs, a passionately committed contract testing laboratory specializing in plant authentication, botanical ingredient identification and quantitative analytical services to the Food & Beverage, Nutraceutical and Cosmeceutical Industries. He holds a degree in chemistry from California State University Long Beach and has authored numerous journal articles on phytochemistry and analytical techniques for the natural products and nutraceutical industry. He is a board member of AHPA, as well as AHPA’s Education and Research on Botanicals Foundation. He received the 2019 NutraIngredients-USA NutraChampion award for advocacy of best testing practices.

Petra Erlandson

Director of Sales and Marketing

Director of Sales and Marketing, Petra Erlandson, joined the Alkemist staff in April 2015 as Strategic Sales Manager to work with customers on reference material education and selection. A chemist by degree and training with 13 years of experience in the natural products industry, she now oversees the sales and client services departments as well as marketing efforts. Petra holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, and has done post-graduate coursework in marketing, sales business management and quality & regulatory certifications. Her previous experience includes eight years in various roles at ChromaDex, including Sales Manager and Product Line Manager.

Andrea Soler-My

Director of Operations

Andrea Soler-My, Director of Operations, joined Alkemist Labs in 2014 as Controller, responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting during rapid growth. She was named Director of Operations in January 2017. She has a BA in English Literature from San Francisco State University, and studied accounting at the University of California, Los Angeles and San Mateo Community College.

Bryan Fine

Business Development Manager

Bryan Fine, Business Development Manager, began his career at Alkemist Labs in 2007 as an HPTLC Specialist before becoming Business Development Manager in 2008, with two years as QA/QC Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of California, Merced. His research experience includes a year as Research Team Leader with the California Department of Veterans Affairs and Computational Biology Research Associate at UC Merced.

Kory Seitz

Senior Account Manager

Kory Seitz, Senior Account Manager, joined Alkemist Labs in 2011, bringing a deep understanding of the role top notch testing plays in product Quality Assurance and regulatory compliance from his positions as QA Manager with Hero Nutritional Products, various roles including QA/QC Manager with Pro-X Nutraceuticals, and six years as Manager at ChromaDex.

Nick Crowning

Account Manager

Nick Crowning, Account Manager, joined Alkemist Labs in April 2019, bringing nearly five years dietary supplement lab testing and QC Analyst experience. He has also been an Aviation Technician on C-130 Hercules aircraft with the U.S. Navy Reserve. He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Rowan University. He handles established accounts on the western side of the U.S.
